Mole and Skin Lesion Removal in Prague 6 — Surgery with Histological Examination
We remove moles and other skin lesions surgically, under local anaesthetic, in a procedure that usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Every lesion we remove goes for histological examination — not as an optional extra, but as an integral part of the procedure. You go home the same day.
There are two reasons to remove a skin lesion. Either it is suspicious and needs to be examined, or it sits somewhere that catches on clothing, gets injured while shaving, or simply bothers you. Both are legitimate, and the approach differs: what matters medically is the histology result, what matters cosmetically is the scar.
Before anything is removed, we assess the lesion with a dermatoscope and decide how to remove it. That decision is not a formality — a suspicious lesion must be excised whole, with a margin, so that the laboratory can assess it properly. A lesion removed by shaving or burning cannot be examined reliably, which is why we do not take that route where there is any suspicion.
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you feel nothing during it. The only unpleasant moment is the injection of the anaesthetic itself. Afterwards you go home; stitches come out in seven to fourteen days depending on the site, and you receive written wound care instructions.
The sample goes to the Unilabs laboratory, which is located immediately next to the clinic. That means it goes for processing straight after the procedure, with no collection round and no waiting. The result is usually available within seven working days and arrives electronically, directly into your record.

What does removal cost and is it covered by insurance?
For medically indicated procedures — where the lesion is suspicious or troublesome — the procedure is covered by public health insurance for patients of our contracted insurers. Removal for purely cosmetic reasons is not covered and the price is listed in our price list. We always tell you the price in advance.
Will there be a scar, and how long does healing take?
